They take my insurance which was great - did all the filing and paperwork for me. Reception was very pleasant and efficient. The nurse was fine, not distinguished in a good or bad way, but followed correct protocol at all times. The Dr was very good - easy to talk with, clear with his response and diagnosis. He offered an xray if we wanted it, but told us the pros and cons. We did take the xray and he quickly got it to us on CD so we can reference it later. He also was clear about what he could do to help, and where he wasn't able to help and we needed an orthopedic doctor. Gave us prescriptions that we needed (though they don't call them in for you). It was exactly the help i needed to bridge the time until I can get my daughter to her orthopedist. This review is for the counseling center only This place is a treasure!! I came for a gyno appointment and found out they also provided counseling and therapy services. A few weeks later I was matched with a therapist who has been life changing / is amazing. This facility is within walking distance of the relatively new Mayo Clinic and a few minute drive to Musical Instrument Museum, a gem in the desert. I imagine it will get built up around this area but, for now, it is in the middle of nowhere, a plus to some and a minus to others; certainly far from any highway noise. The layout is unusual with indistinguishable hallways with identical furnishings that make them hard to navigate for some of the customers. It is a large facility with elevators located at the ends of wings, a convenience to exits but not to the lobby, i.e., it is a long walk from the lobby to the nearest elevator. The handicap access room we had was immediately across from an elevator, a plus, once you got to the elevator. The room was not huge but nice with a sitting area in addition to a desk, dining table for two, and a kitchen. An oddity was the dining table with tall chairs that was unusable to most handicapped persons. The handicap access shower with no threshold was nicely equipped but could have used a shower curtain that was six inches longer that would have kept the rest of the bathroom floor dry - such a simple thing to do that was lacking and annoying. Room service was spotty for a facility of this price and appearance. Coffee supply was not fully replenished, the clock was not set to the right time, the towels were not restocked (even though there was no option of asking to not have it restocked). Breakfast was of good quality in an above-average eating area that was serviced well and more spacious than in an average hotel with a poolside outdoor area available in good weather. The staff kept the area clean and the food supply was replenished quickly. We did notice that everything got put away at 9am sharp; it would be nice to have coffee accessible after 9, to be enjoyed in the pleasant lobby area with the nice views. The service at the desk was pleasant and competent. Option of a free or paid wifi access; we had the free option and it was good enough for emails and simple web surfing. So, overall, a decent experience but not for the price; we were guests of friends so did not pay for our stay. Not sure if we would stay there if we were paying unless we had business at Mayo Clinic. A list of conditions associated with abnormal DLCO is listed in Box 4 6 Diseases such as interstitial pulmonary fibrosis or any interstitial lung disease can make the DLCO abnormal long before spirometry or volume abnormalities are present. Low DLCO is not only an abnormality of restrictive interstitial lung disease but also can occur in the presence of emphysema. In emphysema, the lung volumes may be normal or hyperinflated; therefore, the DL/VA is not useful. Additionally, the loss of alveolar surface area, the pathologic lesion of emphysema, is not proportionate to volume. Thus, one can understand that other obstructive entities that predominantly affect the airways can have similar spirometry, but a low DLCO implies a loss of alveolar surface area consistent with emphysema. Unfortunately, it is not always this simple. Some forms of interstitial lung disease can have components of restrictive physiologies, such as low lung volume and clear evidence of decreased diffusion but also can have airway flow limitation. Sarcoidosis and Wegener's granulomatosis can produce an endobronchial component of airway webs or strictures, limiting flow before overt volume loss, and sufficient interstitial granulomatous inflammation to reduce the DLCO.
