This might be because they have to deal with so many people everyday that they're annoyed, but either way it's not acceptable. Government employees are widely reputed with having terrible attitudes but there's no reason that this type of behavior should go uncorrected. I went to the emergency room last Halloween because I had a cyst on my ovary and I was in serious pain. The nurse who checked me in kept badgering me about how I knew it was a cyst and I could just be exaggerating because I was having period pain and I'm assuming she told the doctor her suspicion because I got the same condescending treatment throughout my whole visit. It wasn't until they did an ultrasound and saw that I ACTUALLY HAD a rather large cyst that they even treated me like I was an actual sick human being.
