Most recently, I injured my ankle lead climbing in a rock gym and took the brunt of my fall's impact through my left foot/ankle. I kid you not, I called him the next day (this happened in the evening), I saw him for acupuncture (after a few tests to verify that it wasn't fractured) and immediately gained better range of motion, less pain for sure and reduced swelling on both sides of my ankle... I'll post fat ankle pics, but hey, no being mean, lol! I will share that energy was released (not sure of the right word, here) with one of the needles - as soon as he inserted it, a sharp, fast pain literally shot from the point of insertion across the top of my foot and out my second toe... I chuckle as I write this, but I'm totally serious. I've had acupuncture many, many times before, but never experienced this. I immediately asked him about it (after shrieking) and he shared that the sudden impact had caused energy to be stored in my foot and this was a way to release it, thereby increasing blood circulation, less pain, less swelling, etc. I may not recall his entire explanation correctly as I was rightly stunned and in pain for a quick second, but I kid you not, my pain immediately reduced and you could noticeably see the difference in my foot... so cool. Two days passed (the weekend) and I returned on Monday. He did bloodletting on the still swollen and tender, more bruised side, and..... a large congealed chunk of blood emerged and again, immediate pain relief - just the shear size of the jellied dead blood being removed from the ankle was impressive and completely logical that it would relieve the pressure and thus be less painful. It's not even a full six hours later and I have almost full range of motion and minuscule pain... if I didn't witness it for myself, I would have difficultly believing a chiro just treated and sped up my recovery from an injury that normally takes weeks to get to this point (for me).... By now, he knows me by name and just asks Hey, good to see you... what'd you do? and then he fixes me. Impressive. My son wasn't feeling well so I found him an urgent care close to his office. Upon arrival he handed his insurance card to the person at the front desk, they then proceeded to tell him that he wasn't insured. So he had to call blue cross himself. Low and behold he 100% is insured! The Dr spent a total of 5 minutes with him, looked in his ears told him he had ear wax. Today I get an estimate of benefits from his insurance company and this place charges $350 for an office visit. Unbelievable!! I woke up this morning with a swollen red itchy eye. I knew it was probably infectious so just looked up a clinic because I knew I would need a note or antibiotics before going in to work. I found the reviews of this clinic on yelp and gave it a try. I walked in, immediately checked in on computer (first time at a minute clinic), was immediately seen, and my prescription was ready all within less than 45 minutes. The NP was thorough and informative. Visit was $79, which doesn't seem unreasonable. They take insurance but I am uninsured at this time so finding a place this quick, quality, and relatively inexpensive is awesome!
