I made an appointment with Dr. Baker with some trepidation because I had never had any medical or dental work done in a foreign country, thus my anxiety level was quite high when I entered the office of Dr. Baker. However, I was greeted warmly by her two assistants who spoken fluent English which, by itself, put me at ease. We also bantered about in easy-going conversation which also relaxed me even more. What also made me feel more confident about my choice of a clinic was the cheerfulness of the waiting room. By the time I saw Dr. Baker I felt much better about my visit, and she invited me into her work area, which was also very cheerful, modern and very orderly and clean. In other words, a very professional looking work environment, where we engaged in a conversation about my dental concerns and needs. After relaxing me with her perfect English and warm personality, she quickly got to work in examining my teeth and came up with her recommendations. What she recommended was very close to my wishes; thus I felt that she was being very honest with me in that she did not oversubscribe what I would interpret to be unnecessary work. I couldn't bare to read all the comments. I will say i am sorry to hear that these clinics are causing problems in your community. I am certain that many people abuse the clinics. And it's sad and i wish they would stop. Because there are too many people suffering at the hands of people who are abuse'n the system! There is a horrid stigma surrounding legit people in pain. The government has decided to wage a war against ALL people who depend on pain pills just like diabetics depend on insulin. For some these meds are life saving. I know no one in pain who is choosing or wanting to take meds for pain. Mostly because of the shame, lack of dignity, the depression and all in all the loss of enjoyment of life. The loss of the god given right to persue happiness. Okay, so these clinics give out large sums of meds? Well, maybe if people could find treatment in their home states they wouldn't give out so much at one time? I'm certain it's costly to drive there and back for most who have no other choice. It seems like an old chinese proverb. Society prepares the crime, the criminal commits it! While try'n to rid the problem of diversion an even greater demand is and will inevitably be created!! I've been in pain for over two decades and i need more medication than the recently ill or injured and there are many like me. I am a Mormon and have been my whole life. I am a good decent and honest person. And all i want is the right to the medication that enables me to work, play, love and persue happiness. And if god forbid i were ever left empty handed i would pray to god there would have some place to turn for help in a pinch!! And not everyone in search of these meds are criminals or have illegal intent. It scares me to think so many people think/believe that all or most people going to these last resort clinics are up to no good. Please, if you don't live w/chronic pain - save your guilty verdicts till someone has been proven by a court of law to be just that. Besides, i cannot imagine a dr giving meds to someone w/out proof of their medical conditions. And if docs in other areas weren't afraid of lose'n their right to practice and could prescribe as they see fit then these so called pain pill mills wouldn't NEED to exist!! Right? Why should the government/dea be able to tell docs what their patients need? If someone chooses to break the law how is that the doctors fault? I certainly do not have the answers. I have some ideas. But the way things are going now.. I can only see things getting worse. Meanwhile, please have some empathy and patience for those who really do suffer and mean No harm to anyone.
