He was seen quickly, within 30 minutes, and the staff was very nice. Basically, he needed IV fluids, which should be simple enough. However, the staff had a very difficult time setting up the IV, and after 3 awkward failed attempts gave up. While starting an IV can be challenging on a dehydrated patient, iv fluids is a key treatment for dehydration. I think the doctors and nurses at this center need a good refresher course! The monthly trip to New York was very hard. A church cancer patient heard of the problem and suggested a trip to Centra Southside Community Hospital Hematology/Oncology department in Farmville. The doctors and staff were great and very helpful taking over his treatments. After one year, the cancer was in remission and medications were no longer needed. His is very grateful for a second chance at life and all the people along the way who never let him give up hope.
