I then switched to extended release morphine, didn't work as well as it should've and still made me way to sleepy. The next med I tried was OxyContin, I had used it for a couple days post surgery and was too afraid to take it as my daily med because of the awful coverage. I am so glad I gave it a try. When you take daily maintenance meds (which means you take them at the same time every day regardless of pain level, to keep blood amounts high enough to deal with the bad pain) initially you will have side effects, euphoria, high feeling, sleepiness...Ect. But after taking them every day as directed I no longer have ANY of those, just pain relief. We cannot guarantee exact scheduling, but we will do our best to accommodate the patient's wishes.
