And because ridding my body of bacteria and getting the wounds to heal took so long, my tissue was swollen and my hand was immobile for over a month, giving scar tissue tons of time to build around my joints and permanently deform my hand. By the time I made it to a physical therapist, it was too late. My finger is frozen at a pretty severe angle, and I will need surgery to change that.
